Caterpillar House in Chile
Caterpillar House is a minimalist house located in Lo Barnechea, Chile, designed by Sebastián Irarrázaval. This residence is a prefabricated home for an art collector built in the outskirts of Santiago. In order to reduce construction time and cost, second-hand shipping containers were used as a structural hold for most of the buildings foundation. The home also takes advantage of the spectacular views of the Andes mountains. One of the requirements was to allow external air to run freely throughout the home in order to avoid mechanical cooling.
