Non-trivial kitchen backsplashes become increasingly popular and gradually replace their neutral and monochrome predecessors. We decided to show you seven backsplash ideas from the latest interior design projects.

It goes without saying that the author of this kitchen is not afraid of making bold decisions and using juicy colors. In one of her latest projects she decided to resort to photoprinting technique and had a cheerful summer image transferred to the wall tiles. Coupled with a blue sofa and light blue base cabinets, it makes this room super optimistic.

The second project was created by the same author. In this case the clients were not open for bright coloristic experiments, so the designer decided to find another way to set the mood. She opted for Spanish tiles by Almeria Emeraude – now the light-colored kitchen has a color accent that is not motley, but still catches the eye.

White & Black Design Studio and its creator strive to follow all the latest trends and surprise their clients. In this project they expressed their idea through a dual backsplash: its bottom part is the continuation of the black stone worktop, while the upper part changes into wooden upper cabinets. That’s a nice example of combining completely different materials.

In general the idea of a backsplash-countertop combo seems to be close to this design studio. In this case, for example, the metal backsplash reaches the middle of the wall and changes into a painted wall that wouldn’t get stained.

Here the backsplash is super cozy. Why? Because the capitone pattern is firmly associated with upholstered furniture, and Chesterfield sofas in particular. So, it’s hard to believe that this backsplash is neither soft nor warm to touch!

Perhaps, the first word that is most likely to conjure up in our minds on seeing this interior is “fundamentality”. In this case pale pink onyx that has to be solid by its nature becomes the centerpiece and the key decorative element of the kitchen. And by the way, it’s represented not just on the backsplash, but also in the kitchen island finishes and the dining area.

In one of his latest projects a young Russian designer decided to choose a win-win option – iconic metalized TRIFID wallpaper by Osborne & Little protected by a piece of tempered glass. Thus he got an elegant and sophisticated backsplash not at the expense of practical aspects.
