Super-Organized and Neat Teenager’s Room Interior

This room with the total area of just 14 square meters belongs to a teenage girl. And the problem of this room was typical of almost any other room occupied by a very young person: it was just packed with stuff. Versatile pieces of free-standing furniture – a wardrobe, chests of drawers, shelves, a nightstand, a writing desk – created an impression of permanent chaos, even when the room was swept clean. All that was compounded by the residence of a teenager, who is not accustomed to keeping order yet and is frequently unwilling to clean her own room. As a rule, it’s not that simple to face such a challenge. But the authors of this project managed to transform this space beyond recognition on the parents’ request.

The main idea was to group all the individual pieces of furniture in one part of the room. This way the other part of the room would have felt more spacious and airier. To implement this idea a multifunctional “box” was designed – it accumulated all the stuff inside, from clothes and bedding to books and small décor. And of course, a sleeping and studying area were envisaged.

Layout peculiarities

The shape of the room is rectangular, almost square. So in order to fit the entire storage system into such a limited space, a podium bed along with the storage zone was located by the window, a writing desk was put closer to the entrance door, and the wall opposite the window was turned into a multifunctional surface, which plays the role of a mirror, an organizer and a screen. This became possible thanks to a sliding panel, which opens a chalkboard in one position, a mirror in the other, and when put in the middle plays the role of a projector screen.

Color scheme

There are no gaudy colors in this interior; just quiet, light and pastel hues: white walls and an ochre shade of the box are complemented with mint green, coral and gray accents.

Lighting

Considering a pretty low ceiling height (2.5 meters), the main task was to preserve the sense of spaciousness. For this sake the open zone was equipped with pendant and ceiling lamps, and the box is lit by built-in lights.

Furniture and décor

Almost every piece of furniture in this room is made from plywood. This is also true for a roomy closet including open shelves, cabinets and even secret compartments for storage. And drawers and a clothes storage zone are located under the bed and to the right of it.

As for the décor, it’s very minimalistic: a few triangles painted on the walls and the floor and entomology posters with images of the 18^th-19^th century.

Finishing materials

The project was focused on exclusively natural materials: the flooring is made in oak and veneer, the box is made from coniferous plywood, the basket for small stuff is woven from rattan, and the entire home textile is cotton, linen and woolen.
