Flexible Sandstone: Unique Natural Facing Material
When deciding on facing materials, we frequently feel that we’ve already seen that before – our friend’s living room features similar wallpaper, this decorative plaster is used in our office, and these tiles remind of our favorite café.
The only creator who never repeats oneself is nature. Each piece of sandstone, with its warm and soft color play, is unique. The very essence of this material is authentic – it is formed during thousands of years, and each year its color palette and structure gets different. Sandstone is the “facing material” of many picturesque rivers and canyons, palaces of Egyptian pharaohs, Indian temples and antique monuments.
Today’s patented technology has brought sandstone back to our daily life in the shape of flexible sandstone – a new facing material, which represents a 2.5-mm-thick section of natural quartz sandstone. One square meter of it weighs about 4 kilos. After extraction flexible sandstone sheets are cut into slices of different format.
Thanks to its unique characteristics, flexible sandstone is used in both interior and exterior design. Designers and architects of the whole world paid their attention to this material as soon as it emerged on the market. It has warm color palette, which creates the effect of coziness and elegancy at the same time. It’s easily combined with other types of materials. Thanks to its technical parameters, flexible stone is a good choice for facing the buildings, arches and columns of versatile complex shapes.
Besides, it’s perfect for humid conditions, for example, such problematic rooms as shower cabins, swimming pools, saunas and cellars.
Flexible stone is heat-resistant and can be used for finishing fireplaces, chimneys and ovens.
Lower weight enables designer to use it in yacht interior décor, in furniture production, and in elevators.
And by means of digital printing you can even create a mural.
